Glen Park

Glen Park is a family neighborhood that's right on the edge of everything happening in SF. It's quiet but can have you in the thick of things within minutes.

Glen Park is a charming neighborhood located in San Francisco, California. It is known for its small town atmosphere and access to nature, with Glen Canyon Park and Billy Goat Hill providing plenty of opportunities for hiking, picnicking, and enjoying the outdoors. The neighborhood is also home to a diverse mix of restaurants, shops, and local businesses, making it a great place to explore and experience the local culture.

Here are some highlights of Glen Park:

  • Glen Park BART Station: This is a major transportation hub in the neighborhood, providing easy access to the rest of the city via the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system. The station puts you right between 24th St and the Balboa Park station, and it's just 7 minutes into the Financial District. The station also hosts several tech shuttles, so check with your company to see if that's available.

  • Both the 101 and 280: If you're more of a commuter down the Peninsula, the freeways are within a 5 minute drive from any house in Glen Park, and you can be on your way to work even before picking out the podcast that's going to take you through the drive.

  • Glen Park Village: This is the commercial center of the neighborhood, featuring a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and local businesses. Canyon Market, Glen Park Station, and Destination Bakery are some of my favorites.

  • Slow Sanchez: During COVID, the city closed off Sanchez St between 24th St in Noe Valley and 30th St, right at the Northern edge of Glen Park. It's a flat 1/2 mile walk and pops you out right at the Noe Valley Farmers Market should you be headed that way on a Saturday.

  • Glen Canyon Park: This large park is a major draw for locals and visitors alike, offering hiking trails, a playground, a community garden, and a nature center. The park also hosts a number of events and activities throughout the year. It's a little piece of the forest right in the middle of the city.

  • Billy Goat Hill: This small hill, located adjacent to Glen Canyon Park, offers panoramic views of the city and the bay. It's a popular spot for picnics and sunset viewing.

Overall, Glen Park is a wonderful neighborhood to visit or call home. Whether you're looking to enjoy the outdoors, explore local shops and restaurants, or just relax and take in the sights and sounds of the city, there's something for everyone in Glen Park.
